“Alex began working with my son when he was 13 months old and still had not started crawling. She started with an in-depth assessment, and really took the time to understand him, his patterns and challenges, as well as us as a family. Alex is so knowledgeable, and was able to work with Ben in a way that was both productive and helped him make rapid progress, but was also fun for him. We were able to implement Alex’s many suggestions at home, which helped significantly with Ben’s progress. I’m sure that Ben would be nowhere near where he is today, without Alex. Alex is a joy to work with - knowledgeable, pleasant, caring, and so passionate about helping children and families thrive. I would recommend her to anyone, for any PT needs, in a heartbeat!”
“Alex began working with my daughter when she was showing difficulty learning to walk. She was very knowledgeable and comprehensive. I felt reassured about my child’s struggles and felt that we were in good hands. Alex was full of suggestions to help me best help my daughter. She had an impressive understanding of my child that seemed to come from years of experience, her knowledge base, and her own intuition.”
“Alex began working with my twin boys very early on in their life, as they were born 3 months premature. I am confident that Alex played an integral part in getting my sons to meet their milestones. She helped them to develop proper motor patterns that will last a lifetime. Alex was always professional, on time, communicative, thoughtful and caring... anyone would be lucky to work with her!”
“I would highly recommend Alex. She was extremely helpful when my son was a little behind on walking. Alex was kind, patient and fun-loving with my son and she was very reassuring and resourceful with me. She gave us fun and practical activities and exercises to do with my son to encourage his gross and fine motor skill development and we saw results immediately. Alex picked up on a lot of little things with my sons body and movements that my pediatrician, my husband or I never would have noticed. She was so flexible and easy to work with and she is a wonderful resource on children and parenting above and beyond physical therapy.”
“Alex was instrumental in helping our kids develop their motor skills. She not only helped our twins, but was a coach for us as new parents as well. She is knowledgeable about infant and toddler physical development. Alex has a warm and tender touch; our kids warmed up to her easily.”
“We’ve worked with a lot of physical therapists, but without question, Alex has been the best. We are deeply grateful for Alex’s expertise, patience, diligence, compassion, and empathy. I say patience, not only with our daughter, but also with us. She worked with our daughter, who had a stroke during labor, and has right side hemiplegia (significant weakness). Alex is always asking questions - asking the questions we didn’t think to ask, always diligent in weighing what the best intervention was for our daughter, and questioning anything we were considering doing and what its intention and outcome would be for her. She reached out to various doctors we were working with to discuss why they were asking us to do certain things, and whether it was best for our daughter. She took the time to ask them about their goals and expectations. It felt like we had an advocate and a therapist, and it’s genuine, it’s her nature, it’s who she is. Above all else, our daughter adored her, and Alex managed to get her to work hard, and still enjoy it, with a lot of laughing, every week. We can never thank her enough for her commitment to our daughter, and the time she gave us.”
“I highly recommend Alex. My son is nine, and this was his first experience with physical therapy. Alex’s kind, playful and supportive approach enabled him to have more confidence in his developing body, and my son thoroughly enjoyed his sessions. Alex communicated regularly with my son’s occupational therapist to ensure that her program was supporting his OT goals. Alex is a staunch advocate for each child in her care, and she is committed to the empowerment of child and parent alike. She is a tremendous resource for families!”
““Alex began providing weekly physical therapy sessions to our daughter when she was 11 months old. Our daughter had delayed gross motor skills at the time, unable to transition from sitting into any other position. After one session with Alex, we noticed an almost immediate change in our daughter’s ability to move. With each additional session, we saw steady improvement in her ability to transition. Alex was wonderful with our daughter - so playful, warm, and encouraging while also pushing her past her comfort zone to help her develop new skills. The space at Gowanus Treehouse is well-stocked with great toys and equipment that Alex used to encourage our daughter to move. With each session, Alex showed us specific things to try with our baby, which we were able to practice at home throughout the week. We would highly recommend Alex and Gowanus Treehouse to our friends - we think it made a significant difference in our baby’s development at a critical time.” ”
““Alex was recommended by my pediatrician after my then 11-month-old daughter was showing little to no interested in crawling or walking. I was nervous something was really going wrong, but I was comforted by Alex’s approach. During just the first session she was able to figure out low-muscle tone was the culprit and then worked with me and my husband so that we could do the different exercises to support my daughter’s development. In every session Alex would work to help me understand how my daughter’s body was working. She would suggest things I could do in our normal routines to build up her strength with so much patience and thoughtful guidance. I especially appreciated how Alex would focus on using tools and resources that were at my disposal. When we needed to purchase specific items we did, but really we were able to use what we had to support our kiddo. In no time Alex became part of our village, helping raise our daughter. She shared in every victory as my daughter starting meeting milestones. As excited as we were for our daughter to get on track, we were equally sad to see our sessions with Alex slow down and then eventually end. I’ll be forever grateful that she was part of my daughter’s life.””
