BACKGROUND

I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with my husband and a dog. I have a young adult daughter and a son in college.

With over 25 years of experience in pediatric physical therapy, I :

  • Completed equivalent of Masters’ degrees in both occupational and physical therapy in Belgium (1990).

  • Specialized immediately in pediatrics, working in a child development center and pediatric private practice in Belgium.

  • Obtained certification in Neuro Developmental Treatment (NDT) in 1993. Since then I have taken numerous advanced NDT courses, including specialties in the young infant and preterm child.

  • Worked in highly specialized children’s hospitals in Glasgow (Scotland) and London (United Kingdom) for five years.

  • Moved to New York City in 2001, where I obtained my PT License that same year and have since worked in hospital, school, home-based, and private practice settings.

  • Obtained Board Certification in 2015 as a pediatric clinical specialist (PCS) from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

  • Obtained a clinical doctorate degree in pediatric science at the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in 2021.

  • Completed PhD coursework in Infant Mental Health and Human Development (2023)

  • Am pursuing a PhD in Pediatric Science at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, researching early detection of developmental disabilities.

Throughout the past 25 years, I have taken many continuing education courses including specialties in the treatment of infants and babies, taping techniques, gait deviations, and pediatric orthopedics.  I am familiar with specialized pediatric equipment for children who are more physically involved. I can also offer guidance in splinting and bracing (orthoses).

Because of my occupational therapy degree, I offer an advanced understanding of sensory integration and its applications. I have completed courses in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and DIR®/Floortime, which I integrate into my approach to children with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD).

As part of my doctoral thesis, I developed a prevention program to prevent plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome ) and torticollis (neck tightness or asymmetry) in infants 0 to 3 months of age, through parental guidance. https://www.preventplagio.com/

I am certified in the Embedded Coaching Approach, which concentrates on active family involvement within the early intervention population.
